Department of Land & Natural Resources, Boating and Ocean Recreation Division.

Salary: $5,541 to $7,015 per month (SR-21, Step C to I)
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Requirements
This series includes all classes of positions the duties of which are to manage and direct, through subordinate foremen, a program of skilled trade operations involving the construction, remodeling, repair, alteration or maintenance of highways, harbors, or airports, and related structures and facilitates, or to serve as a representative of the State in maintaining surveillance over such projects contracted to outside firms or other governmental jurisdictions.
The Construction & Maintenance Superintendent IV plans, directs and coordinates a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects of State highways, airports, or harbors and related structures and facilities of limited size and scope; or maintains on-site surveillance and coordination of contract construction and maintenance projects; and perform other duties as required.
Positions in this series involve the management of a combination of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled tradesmen, craftsmen, equipment operators and laborers, with no single trade or craft predominating, and require an application of administrative knowledge and abilities, and an intimate knowledge, gained through experience, of the general practices, methods, techniques, materials, costs and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of State projects.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.Education: Graduation from high school. Excess work experience of the type and quality described below, or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for Education on a year-for-year basis.
Specialized Experience: FIVE (5) years of experience in one OR a combination of the following:
A. Work experience in the
construction, remodeling, repair, alteration or maintenance of highways, harbors, airports or other facilities and structures which required
knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques, materials, costs, equipment and tools necessary to carry out these activities;
ORB. Professional engineering work experience which required knowledge of the construction, remodeling, repair, alteration or maintenance of highways, harbors, airports, or other facilities and structures; and the
knowledge and application of engineering practices and the physical, mathematical and engineering principles.
Supervisory Experience: ONE (1) year of work experience which included such factors as establishing work methods and procedures; planning, scheduling and reviewing the work of others; preparing cost estimates for labor, equipment and materials; and maintaining records and reports of costs, supply, equipment and personnel data.
Special Requirement Lift and Carry: Applicants must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, and up to 75 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck), with or without reasonable accommodation.Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.
A. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a pertinent field of Engineering may be substituted for a
maximum of three (3) years of Specialized Experience.
B. Excess Administrative Experience of the type and quality described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may be substituted on a
year-for-year basis for the required Supervisory Experience.
