Summary

This job involves enforcing wildlife and conservation laws on Marine Corps bases in North Carolina, including investigating violations, issuing permits for activities like hunting and fishing, and educating the public on regulations.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing and conducting investigations including interviews, gathering and preserving evidence; 2) Writing reports related to criminal investigations and law enforcement operations; and 3) Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing and explaining conservation regulations to members of the public.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will conduct investigations of suspected violations of criminal and civil regulations.
  • You will issue permits to authorized individuals for access to designated areas for the purpose of hunting, fishing, trapping and other authorized dispersed outdoor activities using permit sales and recreation access management services system.
  • You will respond to reported violations and take independent and appropriate action to apprehend, detain, and charge suspects or secure the violated site for further investigation.
  • You will use proper and legal techniques to investigate violations of state and federal wildlife laws/installation regulations.
  • You will make reports that include investigative material, witness statements, pictures and other information essential to a professional investigation.
