Full Job Description

This is a six (6) month non-permanent position.

The duty station for this position is in King County, therefore the incumbent will receive 5% premium pay in addition to the salary listed above.


The Opportunity:

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is seeking a Communication Consultant 1.

This position will provide communication and administrative support to help WSCJTC deliver clear, accurate, timely, and accessible information to recruits, agency partners, media, and the public.

The role is responsible to update the agency website, schedule social media posts, provide livestream support along with other public-facing communication tasks that ensure consistent, accessible, and equity-focused messaging.

Requirements

Duties assigned to this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain and update daily website and SharePoint content, including blogs, event information, links, documents, and program pages.
  • Perform routine website housekeeping, such as archiving outdated materials, refreshing layouts, and ensuring accessibility.
  • Organize and archive photos, graphics, and documents using consistent naming conventions for agency records.
  • Monitor website request queue and maintain a 1–2-day turnaround on updates.
  • Draft, schedule, and organize posts for all social channels using Planner and internal workflows.
  • Collect hashtags, links, captions, and media for posts and newsletters.
  • Monitor engagement (likes, comments, shares) and compile simple reports.
  • Respond to or flag community engagement where appropriate.
  • Monitor, log, and archive earned media mentions.
  • Maintain media coverage spreadsheets with dates, outlets, headlines, and links.
  • Assist with monthly media reports and performance summaries.
  • Maintain and update Constant Contact distribution lists and analytics summaries.
  • Set up, test, and manage livestream equipment for graduations and events.
  • Schedule social media livestream events and update info as needed.
  • Prepare checklists and logistics support for ceremonies.
  • Organize and label event photos following each ceremony.
  • Maintain Communications SharePoint page, templates, and resource library.
  • Update and manage media, stakeholder, and distribution lists.
  • Support archiving and organization of communications materials into agency records.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of clerical, office, or administrative experience in a professional or government setting.
  • At least two (2) years of experience creating or updating website pages, intranet pages, or social media content for an organization.
  • At least one (1) year of experience maintaining digital files, records, or shared resource libraries using consistent naming or filing systems.
  • Experience using basic office software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and respond to requests promptly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to lift and set up basic livestream equipment for events (e.g., camera, tripod, cables).

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • At least six (6) months of experience using analytics or reporting tools (social media insights, website analytics, Constant Contact, etc.).
  • Experience supporting public-facing communications in government, education, nonprofit, or public safety environments.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content scheduling.
  • Experience tracking social media engagement or website analytics.
  • Experience using SharePoint, Constant Contact, or other communications tools.
  • Experience supporting events, livestreams, or basic AV equipment.
  • Experience managing or organizing digital files, photos, and media archives.
  • Interested in public safety, government communications, or public service.
