Requirements

As a Commissioned Boiler Inspector Trainee, you will provide vital assistance with the technical field inspection of boilers and unfired pressure vessels, liquefied petroleum gas installations, and flammable and combustible liquid installations to determine and enforce compliance with the State Boiler Law, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Law and the Flammable and Combustible Liquid Law and regulations.

Inspections will be conducted to identify the presence of corrosion, pitting, cracks, leaks, deterioration, and other defects or conditions which could cause eventual malfunction of the vessel.

Additionally, you will assist with conducting installation inspections in order to assure that work has been completed in accordance with the approved plans and regulations.

You will also assist with conducting safety tests of valves and other attachments to ensure for safe operation of the vessel.

It is essential to report any unsafe operating conditions or violations to the current rules, laws, and regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in the design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, or repair of boilers, unfired pressure vessels, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires employees to obtain, within the probationary period, a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission.


Other Requirements:

  • You must live in or be willing to relocate to Montgomery, Bucks, or Philadelphia County.
