Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing contractors who handle stocking, cleaning, and other services in military grocery stores to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets quality standards.

You'll inspect work, monitor compliance, and sometimes step in during off-hours to secure the store.

It's a good fit for someone with retail grocery experience who likes hands-on monitoring and attention to detail in a structured government setting.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience in retail procurement, distribution, food merchandising, or store management equivalent to GS-5 level

Full Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is conduct quality assurances inspections and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary stocking, order-writing, custodial, receiving, holding and/or other contracted services performed in a commissary.

Experience: One (1) year of demonstrated knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods; principles, procedures, and techniques of retail food merchandising and retail food store management; and developments in commercial retail food store items, equipment, and practices (specialized experience) equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.

Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.

Examples of qualifying experience include: Conducting quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary or retail grocery contracted services.

Applying retail grocery store administration policies and procedures as they relate to established contracts. Monitoring vendors and/or contractors in a retail setting to ensure proper inventory.

Conduct quality assurance inspections and contractor surveillance.

Provide comments and recommendations for additions, deletions, or changes to contractor services to ensure compliance with DeCA directives.

Approve or reject contractor's work schedule and checks work for quality and timeliness.

Maintain the store's space allocations program by such duties as designating to the contractor proper item shelf locations when shelf tags are missing or otherwise not identifiable.

Advise commissary or contracted order writers. Act as the commissary manager's representative during the night time hours to ensure government property is secure. Read the entire job announcement.
