Job Description

Summary

This job involves monitoring contractors who handle stocking, cleaning, and other services in a military grocery store to ensure everything meets quality standards and contract rules.

You'll inspect work, check schedules, and help manage store layouts while sometimes working nights to secure the property.

It's a good fit for someone with retail or grocery experience who is detail-oriented, physically active, and comfortable in a fast-paced store environment.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 level, such as conducting quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance in retail or grocery settings
  • Knowledge of retail grocery store administration policies and procedures related to contracts

Full Job Description

Commissary Contractor Monitors conduct quality assurance inspection and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary stocking, order-writing, custodial, receiving, holding and/or other contracted services performed in a commissary.

You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date.

Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level or (specialized experience) equivalent to at least GS-05.

Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.

Examples of qualifying experience: Conducting quality assurance inspections and contract surveillance duties of specified commissary or retail grocery contracted services.

Applying retail grocery store administration policies and procedures as they relate to established contracts. Monitoring vendors and/or contractors in a retail setting to ensure proper inventory.

You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Physical requirements: (1) The work requires some physical exertion to include long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities.

Conducts quality assurance inspections and contractor surveillance.

Provides comments and recommendations for additions, deletions, or changes to contractor services to ensure compliance with DeCA directives.

Approves or rejects contractor's work schedule and checks work for quality and timeliness.

Maintains the store's space allocations program by such duties as designating to the contractor proper item shelf locations when shelf tags are missing or otherwise not identifiable.

Advises commissary or contracted order writers. Acts as the commissary manager's representative during the night time hours to ensure government property is secure.
