Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a beautiful 180-bed, skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. We strive to honor and respect those living in our community through companionship and person-centered care while providing a comfortable and safe place to live. At Fitzsimons, we provide long-term care and short-term rehab and have a secured memory care neighborhood. We are conveniently located on the medical campus with UC Hospital and the Aurora VA Medical Center. Fitzsimons celebrates a low 14% staff turnover rate and substantial longevity among staff.

Requirements

While in this position, you are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times. Please note: Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.

The Client Care Aide IIs provide basic hands-on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection controlled environment by bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting programs, feeding programs, transporting, performing basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.), and charting/documenting all of the above. This is a fully-operational position responsible for performing the full range of client aide tasks and problem-solving. These positions detect information or problems by interviewing or investigating. This position must possess a Colorado CNA certification, and the certification must remain in good standing.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide direct resident care, including bathing, dressing, undressing, assisting in and out of bed, performing personal hygiene, feeding programs, toileting programs, range of motion, transporting, and interacting socially to meet residents’ basic needs.
  • Explaining patient care before, during, and after contacts
  • Answering call lights and assessing basic resident care needs
  • Updating noted resident changes, reporting information to the charge nurse, and recommending routines and schedules to IDT Team
  • Performing basic resident observations, such as vital signs, blood pressure, weight, intake and output, and basic skin assessments
  • Providing infection control by implementing/using universal precautions and proper disposal of waste
  • Cleaning linen room and equipment, stocking supplies, and completing supply forms
  • Correctly using safety/positioning devices, side rails, transfer belts, and other equipment,
  • Attending ongoing staff education programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
  • One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Substitutions:
  • Current, valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies will substitute for the high school diploma or GED
  • Current, valid licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact will substitute for the experience requirement

Special Qualifications:
  • Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, as well as a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a long-term care environment
  • Experience working with veterans or patients who suffer from PTSD
  • Experience working with patients with dementia
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

    • Shift Work – While every effort will be made for the schedule to reflect the shift/days agreed upon by my supervisor and me, I understand I may be scheduled on different days/shifts based on facility needs.

      While leadership will ask for overtime volunteers as a first-line strategy to relieve staffing shortages, I understand that I may be required to work overtime as a part of this position.

      Shift work includes weekends, nights, and holidays.
