Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a clinical psychologist at a military base in Colorado, where you'll assess and treat mental health issues for service members and their families through counseling, therapy, and evaluations.

You'll also train staff on mental health topics and consult with other healthcare providers to improve patient care.

About the Position: This position is located at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.

or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting individual and group psychological counseling, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing bio-psychosocial evaluations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

License requirement: A current, active, and unrestricted license as a Psychologist in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.

  • Assess and provide intervention for individuals with mental health conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
  • Assess acute mental health and mental medicine conditions in beneficiaries who present with such issues.
  • Provide individual and/or group therapy using a variety of evidence-based modalities.
  • Educate clinic staff on the principles of mental health via trainings and briefings.
  • Provide consultation to specialty clinic providers regarding psychological treatment options to optimize health outcomes.
  • Conduct treatment, monitor, approve, and document all treatment goals.
