Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a psychologist in a military medical center, helping patients with mental health issues tied to their physical health, providing therapy, assessments, and consultations to doctors in a primary care setting.

About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma Washington.

or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

Selective Placement Factor Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S.

State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience, which includes conducting psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Clinical Psychologist Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) for the Clinic and Behavioral Health System of Care (BHSOC) Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) program.
  • Provide individual and group treatment, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
  • Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
  • Provide psychological and clinical consultation to physicians, other professionals and paraprofessionals through established consultation channels.
  • Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
  • Provide feedback to Primary Care Managers (PCMs) regarding consultation findings and recommendations as directed by the current DHA PCBH Administrative Instruction.
  • Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings.
