About the Position: This position is located within Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.

or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing biopsychosocial evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

**This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S.

State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. Major Duties:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and formulate behavioral health interventions within a primary care setting; assist with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans with Primary Care Managers and Behavioral Health Case Managers.
  • Provide timely and concise feedback to PCMs regarding consultation findings and recommendations; provide concise documentation of care and recommendations within the patient’s medical record.
  • Provide focused follow up care, including relapse-prevention education; triage and refer patients to Specialty Behavioral Health Care when appropriate.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make appropriate adjustments; provide on-going consultation services for a sub-set of patients who require on-going monitoring.
  • Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health; promote behavioral change related to improved health status.
