This entry-level civil engineering role with Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection involves a one-year training program where you'll learn to handle environmental projects related to oil and gas, dams, clean water, and waste management to protect public health and the environment.
You'll start with hands-on and classroom training to build skills for full civil engineering duties.

As a Civil Engineer Trainee, you will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer (General).
You will perform journey-level engineering work in the field of environmental engineering as required for implementing the Oil and Gas Act, the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act, the Clean Streams Law, and the Solid Waste Management Act as well as all associated regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Meadville, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
