Full Job Description

Performs full-performance professional engineering in the design, operation and construction of streets, alleys, sewers, bridges, and other public works projects. Participates with higher-level engineers in the planning of municipal improvements. Acts as a chief inspector on large and complex projects. Prepares contracts and reports. Gathers required information for budget development. Represents the department at public meetings. Performs related work as assigned.The City of Saint Paul Public Works Department - Sewer Division is hiring an individual to perform full-performance professional engineering in the design, operation and construction of streets, sewers, and other public works projects.

Here's what you can expect to do:
  • Support street and sewer capital improvement projects by performing hydrologic and hydraulic computations, self-generating XPSWMM models, and directing the scope of consultants in generating XPSWMM models
  • Operate XPSWMM models in the investigation of drainage complaints
  • Responsible for reviewing, updating, and maintaining the city’s sanitary sewer models
  • Analysis of storm sewer system charge adjustments
  • Review MCES community discharge requests, and review of site plans

Information Specific to this Position:
This position is located at 27 4th St W, Saint Paul (City Hall Annex) working the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm with hybrid eligible after onboarding period and in conformance with City/Department policies.

Requirements

Must possess and maintain Licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Professional Civil Engineer, and four years of Civil Engineering experience, at least two years of which must be as a Civil Engineer II or equivalent.

Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer is required by date of appointment. Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer within the State of Minnesota is required within six months of appointment.
