This job involves leading a team of planners, engineers, and specialists to maintain and improve Pierce County's road system, including analyzing traffic data, standardizing processes, and supporting major safety and improvement programs.

Why It's a great opportunity: In this role, you will lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of transportation planners, civil engineers, and GIS asset management specialists contributing to the maintenance, operations, and improvement of the county’s road system.
This critical work includes overseeing transportation and traffic modeling, analyzing key traffic data, and developing growth projections to inform future capital improvement projects.
You will also guide the standardization of drawings, performance metrics, and design and project delivery processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across the division.
These efforts directly support major initiatives such as the Vision Zero Safety Action Plan and the 6-Year Transportation Improvement Program.
As a technical leader, you will provide expertise and support for engineering software, including Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD, and coordinate closely with other technical teams including Survey, Right of Way, and Design.
Additional responsibilities include participation in the Traffic Impact Fee Program and preparation of the Annual Concurrency Report which measures and monitors the county’s level-of-service standards for the arterial road network.
