As a supervisor for the Ongoing/Permanency team, you will be responsible for supervising a team of social caseworkers in a general ongoing or 0-3 permanency.
You will have the opportunity to support the casework team in their work as permanency caseworkers to continually assess for safety, well-being, and permanency.
The supervisor can expect to lead the caseworker team in working towards safe and stable family reunification or identifying alternate permanency options in a timely fashion so that children do not languish in the system.
You will be looked to for leadership, innovation, and creative case planning to meet the ever-changing needs and dynamics of the families we serve as well as the caseworkers who serve them.
In a general team you can expect to work with families struggling with substance use, domestic violence, physical abuse, and neglect.
You will spend time in the courthouse, in the office, and may have the opportunity to work from home.
You will become an integral part of helpers who seek to protect our community’s most vulnerable citizens, the children.
Hiring Range: $75,800.00 - $82,800.00 annually Anticipated Hiring Rate: $79,730.56 annually This is a child protection position; child protection includes engaging families.
It is reasonable to anticipate the need for flexibility in work hours periodically to accommodate client schedules. The average workday hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Schedule is subject to change. Hybrid schedule available upon successful completion of the probationary period; subject to change. This position will participate in an on-call rotation.
Supervises an assigned unit of caseworkers and support staff in the Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) Division of the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) with the mission to preserve and rehabilitate families while protecting children. Oversees and coordinates the practice and primary decision-making of child protection practices and/or coordinates the services and secondary service decisions. Coordinates with units, teams, and leadership as related to safety, permanency, and well-being. May be assigned to the Practice or Support & Services unit. Employment is subject to the terms, conditions, and policies detailed in the Personnel Policies Manual (PPM). This position requires regular in-person presence as an essential job function. Supervises assigned caseworkers, case services aides, and administrative support staff, including conducting unit meetings, ensuring work is performed in a timely and accurate manner, and assigning duties as appropriate.
Conducts performance evaluations and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; participates in the hiring and disciplinary process.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker as stated in Volume 7.
Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
