Summary

This entry-level trainee position involves learning to handle financial tasks for child support cases, such as auditing payments, verifying data accuracy in files and databases, and ensuring compliance with laws and policies.

You'll work in the state office reviewing legal documents, calculating owed amounts, and explaining financial details to staff.

It's a good fit for someone with basic clerical experience who is detail-oriented and interested in government work supporting families.

Full Job Description

In a Training capacity, will learn the ability to perform Entry Level Financial duties necessary to conduct audits of Bureau for Child Support Enforcement (BCSE) cases at either a BCSE Field Office or the BCSE State Office Financial Unit including analysis of transactions for both caretakers and obligors.

In a Child Support Trainee Capacity will learn to verify the data in the physical case file and the automated database affecting the allocation and distribution of child and spousal support payments by reviewing the data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance to the requirements as set forth by BCSE Policies and Procedures, Federal and State Laws and Regulations.

Employee learns to review valid legal documents and court orders in the case and evaluates the accuracy as entered on the Child Support Enforcement's automated system, performs caretaker accounting to calculate amounts owed to the caretaker.

Overpayments to caretakers and refunds to obligors. Provides explanation of cases financial work upon request by staff.

This Position is for Financial workers located in the State Office in the Diamond Building.

Qualifications

Training: High school diploma or equivalent.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of clerical and/or paraprofessional experience.
OR
Substitution: Successful completion of study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at a rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) credit hours of education.

Special Requirement: Availability of a vehicle for continuous use may be a requisite of employment.

Additional Information

Probationary period of twelve (12) months
