This is an unpaid internship for Summer 2026 with the Special Operations Division - Child Care Center.
The District of Columbia Courts offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in court administration.
Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts' mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to commit to work a minimum of 8 hours per week. Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited institution.
Including but not limited to: technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, graduate school, or Law School. Must be a U.S.
Citizen or authorized by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to intern in the United States.
Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record, revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts, is required.
If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. Major Duties:
This opportunity will provide experience in the following: Provides supervision for the children. This includes playing and being involved while still being sure children are safe and being observed.
Assists the early childhood teacher with set-up/clean-up of environment and activities.
Assists early childhood teacher in leading a variety of small and large group activities, including crafts, nature, music, and games.
Assists the early childhood teacher with interactions with the children, including teaching favorite games, life skills, and musical experiences.
Assists early childhood teacher with following the safety guidelines associated with the DC Courts' Child Care program.
