Summary

This role involves acting as a bridge between Navy families and local schools in Rockingham, Australia, to support the education and smooth transitions of military children.

The officer manages programs, handles complaints about schools, and advises leaders and parents on educational issues to help kids succeed academically.

It's ideal for someone with experience in education, especially early childhood or elementary levels, who understands military life and enjoys coordinating support services.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER in the US NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY STIRLING. The location for this position is Rockingham, Australia.

***See Additional Information section below for details*** In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:. - Knowledge and background of early childhood, elementary education and including principles, practices and techniques of education theory.

- Knowledge of CYP School Transition Program policies, regulations, and procedures.

- Knowledge of the Navy operational organizational structure, chain of command, and particularly as it relates to the CYP.

  • You will serve as the School Liaison Officer on medium and large Naby installations in designated Navy Child and Youth Programs.
  • You will be responsible to manage, coordinate and facilitate education support to maximize the opportunity for academic success of military associated children.
  • You will receive and process complaints from installation personnel and their family members regarding area schools and refer into appropriate agency.
  • You will be an advisor to commanders, installation leaders, parents and educators on all education matters impacting military associated children in grades k-12.
  • You will meet regularly with school principles, teachers, guidance counselors, superintendents and other school staff.
  • You will inform local school officials on base programs, policies and activities.
  • You will perform administrative duties related to school liaison officer program.
  • You will write news releases, fact sheets, base newspaper articles, flyers, and feature articles to help educate the base population regarding school programs and policies.
