Requirements
Pierce County is looking for a dedicated Chief Information Officer who has:- Deep knowledge of enterprise information technology strategy, public policy and governance, including cybersecurity, infrastructure, enterprise applications, cloud services, data management, and service delivery in complex environments.
- Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year IT strategies aligned with organizational priorities, operational needs, and long-term fiscal sustainability. Strong ability to convey complex technical issues clearly and engage effectively with partners.
- Skilled in evaluating technology investments and managing risk, including cybersecurity, data privacy, regulatory compliance (including CJIS), and vendor partnerships.
- Strong operational experience in IT budget development, cost allocation, and project prioritization for high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications
Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis.
- Fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to the duties of the position to include five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity managing and leading cross functional teams.
- Postsecondary education in information technology or related field may substitute for up to four (4) years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check. Information received from the background check is reviewed case-by-case and will not necessarily remove an applicant from consideration
