Full Job Description

You will serve as a CHEMIST in the ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY BRANCH of the LABORATORY DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Chemist, planning, coordinating, and conducting chemical and instrumental analysis of samples supporting Navy customer requirements.

  • You will perform complex chemical and physical analysis on a diverse range of materials.
  • You will perform calibration of complex analytical instruments following approved procedures using appropriate standards while ensuring calibration traceability.
  • You will recommend and develop improved techniques and methods for sample preparation and analysis.
  • You will determine appropriate established procedure to use for routine and non-routine samples by reviewing background information.
  • You will plan, design, coordinate, and oversee execution of method validation studies to evaluate method suitability.
  • You will prepare and revise procedures and implement modifications necessary to accommodate the specific types of test instrumentation and equipment available in the laboratory.
