Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a senior chemist in the Navy's fuel operations in Japan, where you'll test petroleum products, manage lab equipment, ensure safety standards, and advise on quality issues for military bases.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on lab experience in chemical analysis who thrives in a technical leadership role within a government or military setting.
Note that medical and dental care is very limited in Japan, so it's best for those prepared for overseas challenges.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Conducting chemical testing of petroleum, oil and lubricant products; 2) Preparing analytical results of laboratory findings, methods and techniques used, data obtained and recommendations and conclusions reached; 3) Calibrating and maintaining instrumentation and equipment used in chemical analysis; 4) Responding to inquiries on the correct procedures for issuing, handling, storage and disposal of petroleum, oil and lubricant products.
