Summary

This job is for certified teachers to deliver online physical education classes through VirtualSC, a South Carolina program for virtual learning.

Teachers will create engaging lessons, manage student behavior in a digital setting, and contribute to course development while ensuring students stay motivated and meet learning goals.

It's ideal for experienced PE educators who are comfortable with technology and enjoy working remotely to support students across the state.

Key Requirements

Bachelor's degree
Professional teacher certification from the South Carolina Department of Education
Certification in Area 64 (Health), Area 65 (Health and Physical Education), or Area 67 (Physical Education)
Mastery of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in Instruction, Environment, and Professionalism domains
Experience or ability to manage online course environments and student behavior
Participation in course design, revision, and standards alignment processes
Strong skills in motivating students, providing feedback, and reflecting on teaching practices

Full Job Description

The person in this position will meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Instruction domain by meeting the mastery level in knowing the learners, demonstrating content knowledge, presenting instructional content, ensuring appropriate pacing, selecting resources and activities, motivating students, questioning students, providing academic feedback, and setting expectations. Meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Environment domain by meeting the mastery level in managing student behavior, establishing the online course environment, and maintaining a respectful culture. Meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Professionalism domain by meeting the mastery level in growing and developing professionally, reflecting on teaching practice, and managing courses. Participate in the course design and revision process either formally, as subject matter expert (SME) or a second reader, or informally; Participate in internal course review and standards alignment processes. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Office of VirtualSC.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree with certification as a professional teacher in the subject area to be taught by the South Carolina Department of Education.

Qualifications

A professional, continuing educator certification in Area 64 (Health), Area 65 (Health and Physical Education), or Area 67 (Physical Education), as listed in the Required Credentials for Professional Staff Members in the Instructional Programs of South Carolina’s Public Schools.
