Full Job Description

The Children and Family Services (CFS) area of Human Services Public Health (HSPH) is seeking a Case Management Assistant (CMA) to complete administrative tasks in state and county systems to support the work of Child Protection.

In this position you will be responsible for managing a caseload of youth and keeping placements and eligibility in compliance with state and federal requirements.

CFS is seeking an effective communicator who can balance the many components of case management, successfully work in a team environment, and who possesses strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

This position will work with staff that serve families experiencing disparities in quality-of-life outcomes and requires someone who values strong collaboration with families and Hennepin County professionals.


Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various designated Child Protection satellite offices, and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

This is a full-time benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Human Services Public Health to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible.

This position is internally classified as a Case Management Assistant.

In this position, you will:
  • Provide administrative support to CFS staff.
  • Complete data entry into Social Services Information System (SSIS) and Electronic Case Files (ECF) and create reports for the service area.
  • Collaborate with County departments and all areas of CFS.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and all required trainings.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
    • A two-year human services certificate.
    • Related education and/or experience to total two years or more.

Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Working with child protection programs.
    • Working with databases and computer programs to perform data entry where accuracy is essential.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients.
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
    • Work effectively with external and internal partners.

Candidates with fluency in another language in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
