Job Description
Summary
This role involves overseeing security operations in a state corrections department, including managing post orders, conducting audits and inspections, developing policies, and assisting with inmate releases and legal matters.

Full Job Description
Manage, distribute and maintain the security post orders for DOS/SCDC.
Administer security audit process for Division of Security.
Review/conduct announced/unannounced security inspections for DOS.
Responsible for policy formulation and review for any and all policies related to the Division of Security.
Assist STG Statewide Coordinator with duties as requested or needed.
Assist with inmate release day for Institutions located on Broad River Complex.
Assist in external security issues as requested/directed by Director of Division of Security.
Responsible for collection of materials requested by legal.
All other duties as required.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and six (6) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 2 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
