This summer internship in the House Human Capital Office involves providing administrative and operational support to human resources programs for U.S.
House members, officers, and staff, including tasks like coordinating meetings, handling projects, and assisting with office workflows.
It's a paid, full-time role in Washington, D.C., lasting up to 120 days, where you'll gain hands-on experience in government operations and HR services.
A good fit would be a current or recent student with an interest in government and HR, plus some basic office experience and strong communication skills.
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff.
Requirements: High school diploma Associate degree or certification from an accredited business or technical school, or enrolled student in a community college, junior college, university or graduate school program.
This is a full-time, in-person position, 40 hours a week, M-F.
**Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only) Minimum Qualifications: Interest and curiosity in government and the human resources field with administrative/operational experience required.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required. Must be able to work with all levels of a multifaceted workforce as well as with sensitive, confidential, and complex projects/ responsibilities.
Ability to multi-task and work well both independently and on a team required.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships with senior staff and other high-ranking officials.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a member’s office. Preferred Graduate student, recent graduate, or Junior or Senior level. Experience working in a professional office setting.
Experience managing social media profiles for a company or organization. Experience supporting large scale events. Major Duties:

The CAO organization comprises more than 800 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
This paid internship is in the House Human Capital Office of the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House).
The House Human Capital Office is responsible for providing human-resource related support to Member, Committee, and Leadership Offices.
The House Human Capital Office's offerings include: the House Intern Resource Office, the Office of Talent and Development, the Office of Employee Assistance, the House Center for Well-Being, and the Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program.
