Plan and prioritize the functions of the Environmental Services (EVS) department.
In cooperation with the Director of Physical Plant Services, coordinate and direct landscaping and grounds keeping services.
Ensure current industry standards and best practices are implemented as practical, in all areas of responsibility. Conduct unannounced checks. Plan and schedule special projects as needed or directed.
Actively assist in the coordination, development, implementation, revision and administration of the overall hospital safety program.
Actively participate on the Safety/Risk management Committee and the Infection Control Committee.
Recommend any changes in methods, procedures and operations which appear to be indicated by review of incident reports, patient and employee complaints, potential problems identified through inspections and other sources of information.
Actively assist in coordinating the preparation and follow-up evaluation of disaster drill exercise on a bi-annual basis which ensure compliance with standards.
Supervise the laundry service to ensure the needs of patients and staff are fully met. Manage the issuance, storage, repair, laundering and inventory control of all hospital linens.
Confer with medical/professional staff as indicated to determine the most appropriate type of linen and clothing for patients and hospital programs.
Coordinate the procurement of special items of clothing with the Supply Manager.
Develop a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for housekeeping, laundry and grounds keeping equipment and maintain an accurate record of data on all EVS equipment (i.e., purchases, repair, inspections).
Evaluate new cleaning products and supplies; make recommendations regarding related housekeeping equipment.
Responsible for the safe and orderly ordering, storage and distribution of housekeeping materials, cleaning supplies and machinery within the facility.
Interviews and selects housekeeping/laundry personnel. Develop and conduct appropriate on-the-job training programs for staff. Demonstrate proper use of equipment and supplies.
Maintains accurate records on the department staff, to include all necessary timekeeping reports and related personnel records.
Perform Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) reviews as rater or reviewer.
