Parks and Recreation/Berkeley Springs State Park
Key Responsibilities and Duties:Routine Maintenance and Repair: Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks necessary for the comprehensive maintenance and repair of Berkeley Springs State Park historical facilities, pool, associated buildings, grounds, 2 boiler systems, and bulk water sales.
This includes both the exterior and interior spaces of these structures.
Facility and Infrastructure Support: Conduct minor repairs and upkeep on plumbing fixtures, lighting systems, doors, windows, and structural elements.
This may involve tasks such as patching and painting walls, replacing broken floor tiles, and ensuring all park amenities are functional and safe for public use.
Grounds and Landscape Maintenance: Duties include regular mowing, trimming, weeding, and general landscape maintenance. This also encompasses maintaining walking paths, public areas, and ensuring the grounds are kept clean and aesthetically pleasing, including litter removal and waste management.
Trades Assistance: Actively assist a skilled trades worker (e.g., journeyman carpenter, plumber, electrician, or mason) in performing more complex maintenance and repair projects.
This includes fetching tools, preparing work areas, holding materials, and performing entry-level tasks under direct instruction to learn and facilitate the completion of specialized work.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain basic hand tools, power tools, and light-duty equipment relevant to grounds maintenance and general repair, such as mowers, blowers, pressure washers, and small utility vehicles.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain basic records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks. Report any structural deficiencies, equipment malfunctions, or hazardous conditions immediately to the maintenance supervisor.
Compliance and Safety: Adhere strictly to all park policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures to ensure a safe working environment for both the employee and park visitors.
Other Related Work: Perform any other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor or park management that are necessary for the efficient and safe operation of Berkeley Springs State Park.
This position requires physical stamina, a willingness to learn trade-related skills, and a commitment to preserving Berkeley Springs State Park historical integrity and high standard of public appearance.
Must have flexibility in work schedule; will be required to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Will be required to wear a park uniform. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Performs related duties as required. Regular attendance is required.
