Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).

The Physical Environment Budget Team Manager focuses on supporting team members to make sure they have the skills, coaching, and opportunity to thrive in their jobs and careers.
This team provides budget and fiscal support for services delivered by King County Metro, Department of Local Services, and the Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
The position requires strong leadership and communications skills, comfort with budget processes and issues, a commitment to advancing County policy and priorities, and the ability to work with all types of people inside and outside of County government.
Support team members by providing coaching, finding opportunities for training and skill development, and aiding long-term career development.
Manage overall team workload and make adjustments as necessary.
Ensure that budget processes are followed consistently and that products meet quality standards and are delivered on time.
Manage the development, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of department budgets and capital improvement plans.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with County departments and partners. Identify intersecting issues, conflicts, and opportunities for collaboration across county departments and with external partners.
Maintain a leadership role in the development and monitoring of capital budgets. Monitor capital project portfolios and coordinate standard reporting to the County Council. Review the cost-effectiveness and outcomes of initiatives, programs, and projects.
Brief County leadership and other audiences on complex financial and policy issues in a clear and informative manner; and synthesize and communicate complex ideas and information to non-financial managers, elected officials, and program stakeholders.
Serve as project manager on two or three complex projects that may focus on cross-departmental collaboration and areas of high priority.
Be able to work effectively with the Budget Management Team to coordinate responsibilities for various aspects of the County's budget and financial monitoring processes.
Work effectively with all Executive Office team members to increase collaboration across the Office.
Provide backfill for team members as needed.

DESIRABLE, BUT NOT MANDATORY, CHARACTERISTICS:
A master's degree in public policy/administration, finance, economics, business, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree and longer work experience.
At least seven years of experience with budgeting and/or finance.
Experience managing people, projects, or processes.
