Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping manage the mental health and behavioral needs of people in a state correctional facility by researching their backgrounds, scheduling tests, and ensuring they receive required education on topics like preventing abuse.

It focuses on tracking and documenting these activities to keep everything organized and compliant with rules.

A good fit would be someone with a background in psychology or counseling who is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a prison setting, and committed to supporting rehabilitation.

Key Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in psychology, mental health counseling, applied behavior analysis, substance use, clinical social work, behavioral sciences, mental health, or a closely-related field
  • Ability to research and log information on incarcerated individuals for assessments like PREA
  • Skills in tracking individuals and maintaining current testing lists for CASA/BETA
  • Experience ensuring compliance with PREA through education delivery and documentation within 72 hours
  • Obtain certifications post-hire such as Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (LCADAC), Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
  • Eligibility to work in the United States, verified through E-Verify
  • Comfort working in a correctional facility environment

Full Job Description

Research and log each incarcerated individual admitted to IMCC for the purposes of determining assessment completion (PREA etc) or if the individual needs to complete testing (CASA/BETA).

Track incarcerated individuals’ housed within the facility to keep the CASA/BETA testing list current and enable accurate scheduling of testing groups.


Ensure IMCC’s compliance with PREA requirements by presenting necessary information/education to incarcerated individuals through videos and written materials and documenting completion within 72 hours of arrival.


E-Verify and Right to WorkThe State of Iowa participates in E-Verify, a federal program that helps employers confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees.

Within the required timeframe, new hires will be verified through the E-Verify system to ensure authorization to work in the United States.
