Incumbents act as a program administrator within Correctional Health Services (CHS) requiring administrative support to staff and programs. Incumbents help direct the development of policies, budgets, and programs to support quality patient care. The incumbent will be responsible to assess overall program needs, provide supervision and structure to CHS, resolve concerns within CHS and with key stakeholders, represent CHS to community partners and at conferences, assist in developing and implementing executive policy and related matters.

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

  • Master's degree in Behavioral Science required or higher

  • Full clinical licensure (LCSW, CMHC, LMFT, etc) and meet DOPL requirement to provide clinical supervision to staff not fully licensed (CSW, ACMHC, AMFT, etc)

  • Experience in healthcare administration

  • Has experience directing and/or managing a complex, multifaceted organization

  • 3+ years of proven management/supervisory experience

  • Has partnership development skills.

  • Has experience with quality improvement efforts in a clinical setting.

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with staff and institutional administration.

  • At least five years of experience in a correctional environment.

If offered this position, your employment will be contingent upon passing a background check with DHHS and DOC
and drug testing. There will be no cost to you for these checks. This check will include fingerprinting, which will be available at various DHHS locations for your convenience and drug testing at a facility close to your location. Fingerprinting will be completed prior to your first day of employment.

Requirements

As a Behavioral Health Administrator you will:

  • Help manage and provide vision and leadership to guide the strategic direction of the CHS behavioral health team.

  • Help develop, direct, and/or evaluate the functions and operations of CHS

  • Supervise subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.

  • Develop strong internal and external partnerships.

  • Support the management and leadership development of the CHS behavioral health team, including supporting personnel management, and policy implementation.

  • Cultivate a positive culture that supports teamwork and the well-being of staff and patients. Do not contribute to negative work culture by participating in unprofessional or disrespectful behaviors.

  • Develop and coordinate plans and policies within available resources to meet the mission and strategic objectives of the organization.

  • Set goals, establish priorities, manage resources, develop concepts and approaches, review projects progress and results.

  • Provide direction to CHS behavioral health team on innovations and improvements to processes and systems to improve quality and efficiency of patient services.

  • Collaborate with the CHS/DHHS quality assurance team to improve clinical programs and utilize the continuous quality improvement process to assess and enhance standards of quality within CHS.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
