Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an aviation safety specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration in Belgium, focusing on ensuring aircraft meet safety standards, advising on compliance with federal regulations, and helping develop policies to improve organizational efficiency.

Aircraft Certification Service (AIR) develops safety standards, policies, and guidance that govern the design, production, and airworthiness of aircraft, engines, and propellers.

The Aviation Safety Analyst performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.

Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge to perform advisory work to assure customers understand compliance of Federal laws, regulations, or other mandatory guidelines applicable to plan and conduct functional activities for projects/programs that improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency and/or meet strategic objectives.

Performs special studies and assists in developing plans, policies, procedures, guidance, resources, and similar documents on operational and administrative matters.

Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines.

Applies knowledge of FAA/AVS/AIR policies and objectives to identify, define and organize resources for large projects/programs/work activities.

Typical assignments include supporting management and/or teams leading large projects and or programs; defining and developing internal policies and procedures; and, predicting potential issues and proposing preventative action.

These programs/projects directly affect the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

The incumbent works with manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional to resolves problems involving interpretation and application of operational policy, including establishing standards and preparing performance work plans and assessments.

Independently plans time. Identifies, plans, and organizes available resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities.

Makes optimal use of resources to complete activities within established schedules.

Initiates and maintains effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders, and builds cooperative, ongoing working relationships to advance the mission of Aircraft Certification Services (AIR).

Contacts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Provides guidance to technical staff.

Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or other professionals. Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention.

Develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management and/or more experienced professionals to solve problems.

Prepares, reviews, and recommends approval of reports for internal and external distribution on projects, programs, and other work.

Performance is reviewed through status reports to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

FV-J duties- Advises and consults management on the development and execution of programs that improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency and/or meet strategic objectives.

Under the minimal direction of a manager or other experienced technical specialist the Senior Analyst develops new and innovative program approaches, methodologies, and techniques, or as a team leader defines and direct challenging projects/programs/activities in support of the organizational goals.

Performs special studies and develops plans, policies, procedures, guidance, resources, and similar documents on operational and administrative matters.

Shares responsibility for the performance of programs/projects, which frequently affect more than one LOB/SO.

Represents AVS/ AIR as a principal point of contact to provide advice and guidance on the intent and application of policies and procedures. Provides guidance to administrative and technical staff.

Formulates and recommends positions on major project/policies/issues to senior management.

Provides advice, counsel and support for assigned areas under the purview of the Division and represents management's interests in meeting with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
