This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary:
Level V - $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I)

Requirements


This is a multi-series definition applicable to all classes of positions the primary duties of which are to advise, administer, supervise or perform professional auditing work for purposes of reviewing and appraising the adequacy of accounting and related management controls within governmental agencies to insure that each maintains an adequate accounting and reporting system, income and unemployment tax compliance by individuals and business firms, rate-making for public utilities and transportation forms, and other related auditing functions. The work requires primarily the application of sound accounting judgment and generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles.

Auditor V: Supervises and participates in field audits of governmental books of accounts, business entities, regulated public utilities and transportation companies, etc., assumes complete charge of a team of auditors engaged in an extensive or complicated audit, prepares financial exhibits and audits reports and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications


To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with at least twelve (12) semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.

Other Qualifying Education:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BAcc): Applicants who possess a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or a bachelor's degree with accounting and/or auditing coursework equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting, from an accredited college or university will be deemed to have met the education and experience requirements for the class Auditor II.

2. Master's degree in Accounting (MAcc): Applicants who possess a master's degree in accounting or a master degree with accounting and/or auditing coursework equivalent to a master's degree in accounting, from an accredited college or university will be deemed to have met all the basic education and experience requirements for the class Auditor II.

Specialized Experience: Four (4) years for Level V of progressively responsible professional auditing experience requiring the knowledge and application of generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles, standards, theory and practices for the purpose of analyzing and interpreting accounting books, records, or systems.

Supervisory Aptitude: For level V, supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.

Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
