Job Description

Summary

This job involves creating and managing high-quality videos, audio, and photos for government communications, both in a studio and out in the field, to support public information and internal needs at U.S.

Customs and Border Protection. You'll handle everything from directing shoots and setting up equipment to maintaining a library of footage and advising on technical details.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Big Bend Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division - Strategic Communications, located in Marfa, TX.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying advanced audiovisual production methods and techniques to create high-quality video, audio, and photographic content for public information and internal communications.

Directing all aspects of video production, including lighting, camera movement, and production design, both in studio and field environments.

Managing and maintaining audiovisual equipment, including setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades. Serving as a technical advisor on audiovisual production techniques, equipment, and software.

Managing and maintaining a database of video and photographic assets for use in future productions (B-roll, stock footage).

As an Audiovisual Production Specialist, you will support agency informational and messaging media production projects and be responsible for program oversight in all facets of the media production projects to include audio, video, photography, graphic design, and the management and operation of required equipment essential in accomplishing the messaging and production projects for the sector.

This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10) In this Audio-Visual Production Specialist position, you will serve as a producer, director, script writer and production assistant in support of agency informational and message media production projects.

You are responsible for oversight of the following program objectives: Serving as an authoritative technical advisor and resource to Audio Visual Production Specialists in medium sectors.

Providing assistance in script preparation, creating electronic graphics to enhance presentation, edit videotapes for roll in and review, evaluate and edit finished programs.

Creating and maintaining existing database of video imagery used for distribution as B-Roll to media outlets.

Providing technical assistance and/or training to staff in a large sector in using the audio/visual equipment and assisting in social media production related tasks and performing duties as assigned by supervisors.
