This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.
The Attorney II will conduct legal research, interpret policies, and prepare and draft contracts, memorandum of agreements and related documents for assigned and emergent grants as awarded.
Additionally, the Attorney II will monitor changes to laws, guidelines, or regulations especially as it pertains to the current grants implemented by the Office of Resilience and those grants to be acquired and implemented by the office.
The position also requires policy writing and review for the Disaster Relief and Resilience Fund and the South Carolina Resilience Revolving Loan Fund.
The position will need to learn how the Statewide Strategic Resilience and Risk Reduction Plan guides agency planning.
The Attorney II may be asked to prepare opinions involving legislative acts and court decisions, and to track legislative actions that impacts the agency or its mission.
Under limited general supervision, this position:
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, hydrologists, watershed coordinators, housing and resilient building experts, and non-profit organizations active in disasters and recovery.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to grant management practices, nature-based hazard mitigation strategies, green and grey infrastructure practices, economic, ecologic, and sustainability practices for all areas of agency programs.
