The Office of the Solicitor's Front Office is seeking a Counsel/Senior Counsel who is passionate about delving into complex legal issues and making an impact on the lives on American workers.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor to the Solicitor and Deputy Solicitors, playing a vital role in shaping legal activities that directly impact workers across the nation.

To qualify for an attorney position, applicants must possess a professional law degree (LL.B.

or J.D.); be a member in good standing of the bar of a court of general jurisdiction of a state, territory or possession of the U.S.; and have acquired the amount of experience indicated below for each grade level.

Qualifying specialized experience for GS-15 includes: four (4) years of progressively responsible legal experience of a professional nature which demonstrates the ability to perform the work at this level.

At least one year of qualifying experience, at this level, must be specialized experience as defined below.

Specialized experience is defined as senior legal experience that has equipped the applicant with the necessary skills and abilities to perform the major duties of this position. NOTE: A LL.M.

may be substituted for a maximum of one year of experience. Transcripts: You must provide a copy of your law school transcript to be considered for this position.

Verification of your academic degree(s) is necessary to determine your qualifications or eligibility for this position, you will be required to submit an official transcript for verification purposes before you are hired.

However, unofficial transcripts may be submitted during the application phase of the process. Please note that your J.D. or LL. B degree must be conferred before you can begin working. Major Duties:

Duties: The selected candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and preparing a wide range of legal documents, including opinions, regulations, briefs, and motions.

As part of a collaborative team, the selected candidate Senior Counsel will provide legal guidance to senior management officials, analyze legal issues, and offer recommendations to support informed decision-making.

Senior Counsel will participate in reviewing appellate recommendations, advising on Supreme Court and appellate court cases, and occasionally preparing briefs and requests for appellate review.

Additional responsibilities include offering legal advice on policy matters and rulemaking, as well as analyzing significant departmental regulations.

The selected candidate Senior Counsel may also prepare talking points and briefing materials for senior leadership to ensure clear communication regarding complex legal issues.

In this role, the selected candidate Senior Counsel will engage with key stakeholders from government, business, and other groups, representing the views of the Solicitor in high-level conversations.

As a counsel/Senior Counsel, the individual will have a vital role in influencing agency operations, assisting in the development of strategic plans and management documents, and ensuring that FOIA responses and other departmental communications are legally compliant.
