This job is for a lawyer working with the West Virginia Lottery Commission, where you'll handle legal tasks like drafting bills, preparing court documents, reviewing contracts, and advising on rules and regulations under the guidance of a senior lawyer.

Performs legal work under the general supervision of the Associate General Counsel. Performs full performance legal work for the WV Lottery Commission. Assist Associate General Counsel with legislative bill drafting emergency policy, and procedural rules.
Draft pleadings and other legal memoranda in litigation and administrative hearings. Will prepare legal memos on regulatory and compliance matters. Participate in the RFP contract process, interpreting purchasing rules and regulations, and providing legal guidance to management.
Respond to FOIA requests. Research regulatory matters in the direction of the Associate General Counsel and the Lottery Director.
Reviews and approvals of a variety of contracts relating to marketing, security, licensing, finance and administration, etc.
Consults with agency staff on the interpretation of court opinions, the interpretation and application of statutes, rules and regulations, commission and director policy, minimum internal controls, casinos internal controls and house rules.
Applicants are subject to an extensive background investigation by the WV Lottery Security Division.
No person shall be appointed, employed, or continue to serve in any position or employment with the commission who has been convicted of any violation of the lottery law or of any felony or any crime related to theft or gambling.
The commission shall remove or discharge any person so convicted.
