This job involves reviewing and giving feedback on building and development projects to ensure they fit well with the city's look and function, while helping city staff and the public with urban design questions.
It supports the City Architect in shaping Indianapolis's growth through collaboration on grants, planning, and public spaces.
A good fit would be someone with a background in architecture or planning who enjoys working with teams to create beautiful, sustainable neighborhoods.
Position will support the City Architect with design review and provide architectural assistance and technical expertise to City staff and the public regarding the design of the urban realm.
This position will coordinate with a variety of City departments and divisions to implement effective urban design strategies that actively shape our City's growth.
This position reports to the City Architect.

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, or related field of study is required. One (1) year of experience working in a design-related field is preferred.
Must have a thorough understanding of design principles, best practices, and technologies to achieve impactful and sustainable urban design outcomes.
Must understand how new developments visually and functionally integrate with the existing built environment and streetscape.
Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and provide tactful, constructive feedback and recommendations.
Must have effective writing skills and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as with other City departments and divisions.
Must work with integrity and exhibit the ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Working knowledge of Microsoft software is required.
