Job Summary

The Associate Dean of the Library & Learning Commons provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and collaborative direction for all library and learning-support services across Arapahoe Community College.

This role manages a team of professional librarians and the Director of Tutoring and Learning Resources; oversees budget development, collection management, and digital resource strategy; advances inclusive programming; and ensures high-quality services that support in-person and online learners at all campuses.

The Associate Dean leads outreach to faculty and campus partners, guides assessment and accreditation efforts, integrates emerging technologies, and fosters an innovative, service-oriented environment that empowers students, staff, and the community to achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight for all Library & Learning Commons programs, operations, staffing, and services.
  • Manage budgets, fiscal planning, technology acquisitions, and vendor negotiations to support innovative and efficient library and tutoring services.
  • Lead faculty outreach, marketing of library resources, and coordination with campus committees, community partners, and statewide library collaborators.
  • Supervise and support librarians and tutoring leadership, ensuring professional development, effective performance management, and an inclusive team environment.
  • Oversee assessment, reporting, accreditation contributions, and strategic planning to advance instructional support and student success.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA accredited school
  • Three years of library management experience in an academic library.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for students using effective inclusive strategies
  • Experience managing a budget
  • Demonstrated experience successfully implementing a large project or initiative
  • Experience applying for and managing a grant
  • Knowledge of Navigate, Banner, or similar student tracking systems
  • Competence with digital tools and services and the ability to learn quickly

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of library services including reference, circulation, cataloging, ebooks, e-reserves, digital resources
  • Library leadership experience in a community college
  • Experience working with consortia and/or with OCLC
  • Experience using existing and emerging technologies to provide and enhance library, tutoring, and information services

    Additional Information

    Work is generally performed in a standard library environment. The library is open from 8:00am to 7:00pm, Monday through Thursday, and between 8:00am and 5:00pm on Friday. This position may be expected to work during any of these hours.
