About the position: This is a NAF Career Program position assigned to Kadena Air Base Okinawa, Japan .

This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience that shows progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical, or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and practices, or progressively responsible experience in one or more of the functions managed by a golf course manager.

OR Substitution for Experience: A four-year degree from an accredited college with a major in one or a combination of recreation or business management may be substituted for the general experience.

AND Specialized Experience: In addition to the general experience, applicant must have specialized experience gained in the operation or management of a civilian or military golf course.

The experience must include responsibility or supervision over at least one phase of a golf course operation.

Specialized experience must be at a level that shows the applicant can perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A PGA Class A certificate is desirable.

Substitution for general and specialized experience: A Professional Golf Management degree from a PGA accredited Professional Golf Management School may be substituted for all general and specialized experience.

Major Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and assists the Golf Course Manager in both course and facility operational management and maintenance of the golf course.

Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of food and beverage, recreational and promotional programs.

Establishes, reviews, and evaluates food service and purchase of supplies, equipment, and resale merchandise. Establishes financial goals commensurate with market analysis of area or region.

Prepares budget, analyzes financial results, and maintains solid financial condition of the facility and course. Responsible for work force management, recruitment, and staff training.

Manages real property resources and provides expert advice on renovations, improvements, minor and major construction.

Promotes, organizes, schedules, and conducts tournaments, matches, special events, and daily courses activities. Conducts or ensures golf lessons are conducted.

Ensures course, putting green, chipping practice area, golf carts, and rental equipment are correctly maintained. Oversees the operation of a pro shop and/or a snack bar.
