The Department of Transportation is seeking a leader for our District Traffic Operations and Highway Occupancy Permit programs.

In this role, you will assist in managing the District's Traffic Operations and Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP) programs.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring the district's sign inventory, aiding county crews in reducing backlogs, and reviewing plans related to signs, pavement markings, and detours.
You will ensure that complaints regarding signs and markings are addressed promptly, and that emergency detours and annual sign repair contracts are completed on schedule.
Additionally, you will help oversee the district's pavement marking and line-painting initiatives, prepare contracts, and organize the annual sign meeting.
A significant part of your job will involve reviewing plans, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with state regulations and safety standards.
Managing the Highway Occupancy Permit program will require you to handle requests for driveways, developments, and other access points to state roads.
Your tasks will include reviewing engineering studies, leading discussions with applicants and engineers, and coordinating with various PennDOT units for reviews.
You will supervise staff and consultants, ensure that permits comply with state and federal regulations, and assist in resolving any issues that arise.
Your duties will also involve reviewing and either approving or denying permit requests, tracking progress through the electronic permitting system, preparing reports, and inspecting major projects to confirm they meet the necessary requirements.
Additionally, you may assist with legal matters, draft official correspondence, and ensure that the permit program delivers excellent customer service while supporting the district's transportation objectives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
