Base salary range: $123,041 - $159,950

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This role involves leading efforts to manage and improve how data is handled across a federal agency focused on taxes and regulations for alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, including setting rules for data quality, integrating systems, and preparing for AI use.
It requires guiding teams to build a strong data foundation that supports better decision-making and protects sensitive information.

Specialized Experience For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes: - Applying results-driven methodologies to elevate an organization's data maturity, including establishing a unified data lexicon and reference data standards, and developing and implementing enterprise data quality and metadata management policies; AND - Demonstrating technical expertise across data analytics, data architecture, data integration, including experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), ETL/ELT pipelines, and business intelligence software; AND - Providing leadership to cultivate and sustain a data driven culture through development and implementation of enterprise data strategies, data governance frameworks and/or AI governance models.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Major Duties:
This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Data Analytics.
As an Assistant Director - Data Governance, you will: Lead the development and implementation of policies, standards and processes governing data quality, metadata, reference data, and artificial intelligence (AI), ensuring data accuracy, accessibility and the protection of sensitive information.
Develop and execute strategies to modernize the integration of data into TTB's analytical data warehouse, enhancing mission analytics and data-driven decision-making.
Develop and oversee the enterprise data strategy to advance TTB's data maturity and readiness for expanding AI capabilities.
