Requirements
Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking collaborative, energetic, and community oriented leaders for the position of Assistant Branch Manager at Rust Library in Leesburg, VA. This role serves as the second person in charge of the branch and plays a vital leadership role in supporting daily operations, service quality, and staff development.
The Assistant Branch Manager directly oversees the Circulation Department, including supervision, scheduling, training, and performance evaluation of Circulation staff. This position also serves as the person in charge of Passport Services, managing daily passport operations, ensuring compliance with federal acceptance standards, and coordinating staffing and workflow for Rust Library’s passport program.
In addition, the Assistant Branch Manager provides oversight and support across public service areas, coordinates cross department scheduling, delivers customer service training, and ensures a high standard of public service for library users of all ages.

Additional Information:
Rust Library is LCPL’s only passport acceptance facility. The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for ensuring daily operational excellence for the passport program in addition to other supervisory and operational duties.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days per week. Work schedule will vary and will include evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Work location is subject to change based on operational needs.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree; two (2) years of supervisory experience and experience in operations and/or administration are required.
A master’s degree in library science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA accredited program is preferred; previous work experience in a library setting is preferred; a thorough knowledge and understanding of trends and best practices in public libraries is preferred.
Loudoun County offers a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency assessment.
