Job Description

Summary

This job involves representing Iowa state agencies, boards, and commissions in administrative hearings, courts, and appeals, as well as helping to review and write rules for how the government operates.

It's a great fit for lawyers who are passionate about public service and justice, whether you're a new graduate or have some experience in law.

Key Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Iowa State Bar and appropriate federal courts at the time of appointment (or ability to obtain)

  • Preferred: At least three years of practicum or legal experience
  • Preferred: Prior judicial clerking experience
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Authorization to work in the United States (E-Verify compliant)

Assistant Attorney General—Administrative Law Section

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird seeks to fill an Assistant Attorney General position in the Administrative Law Section of her office.

Description:
  • Represent agencies, boards, commissions, and their employees in administrative tribunals, as well as state and federal courts, including appellate courts.
  • Assist with the review and drafting of administrative rules.

Qualifications:
