Job Description

Summary

This job is for an Area Director overseeing commissary stores (grocery operations for military personnel) across the central United States, managing budgets, teams, and daily operations to ensure smooth functioning.

This position is located in the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), Store Operations Group CONUS stores, and serves as the Area Director Central.

Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-15 Directing changes to goals and objectives where appropriate and evaluating the results of organizational accomplishments.

Developing, documenting, and operating both internal processes and administrative controls. Planning, developing, and carrying out vital programs.

Managing commissary operations across multiple locations and supervising zone managers and store directors.

Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.

As the Area Director Central, you will be responsible for the following duties: This position is located in the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), Store Operations Group CONUS stores, and serves as the Area Director Central.

Responsible for the tactical operations of all Central Area Commissaries.

Provides direct supervision, leadership, and guidance to approximately five zone managers responsible for Central United States commissaries.

Exercises all human resources management (HRM), organizational management, equal employment opportunity (EEO) responsibilities and provides second-level supervision to store directors.

Forecast and manage long term, intermediate, and short range budget requirements for operation of directed commissaries. Read the entire job announcement.
