Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This is an Architect GS-0808-12 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division, Tulsa District, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Operating design software to create architectural designs AND; 2) Preparing architectural designs for new construction, expansions, or renovations of buildings; AND 3) Conducting technical reviews for architectural designs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the basic education requirement listed below: Major Duties:

  • Incumbent serves a production architect for assigned military design projects in the District.
  • Develop general and detailed drawings, design analyses, computations and calculations, and technical specifications for architectural features of assigned military design projects.
  • Perform detailed architectural technical review of assigned military project designs provided by Architect -Engineer firms under contract to the District.
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to Indefinite Delivery design contractors involved in providing specialized design services to the District military design program in the area of architectural design.
  • Provide architectural input to Technical Managers, Project Managers, Section Chief, and customers on project scope, time, cost and quality issues to meet customer and/or partner expectations.
  • Visit sites of proposed or existing projects to gather and/or interpret design data, assist in the interpretation of plans and specifications and, when requested, to recommend revisions to design documents to accommodate changed field conditions.
