Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing the daily operations of aquatic facilities, wellness programs, and fitness centers at a military base, including staff supervision, safety protocols, budgeting, and event planning.

Key Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Administration/Management, or Recreation, OR 12 months of experience in aquatic, wellness, or recreational programs
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, planning, and executing aquatic, wellness, or recreational programs and events
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff, events, or programs
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification
  • Current Lifeguard Instructor (Red Cross) certification
  • Obtain Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification within 6 months of appointment
  • Complete Online Training for Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), CLC222 Section 893, MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course, and Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification

Full Job Description

This position is located at Fort Lee, VA. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: An undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields such as Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Administration/ Management, or Recreation OR twelve (12) months work experience in an indoor or outdoor environment with aquatic, wellness, and/ or recreational programs, events, and facilities.

Possesses demonstrated experience in development, planning and execution of aquatic, wellness, and/ or recreational programs/ events.

Possesses experience in supervision and/ or management of staff, events, and/ or programs.

Possesses and maintains the following certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED Lifeguard Instructor (Red Cross) The following certification must be obtained within 6 months of appointment: (Training will be facility funded.) Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.

Online Training for Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), CLC222 Section 893. MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course. Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the daily operation and management of aquatic, wellness, and fitness center facilities, personnel, safety, training, development, and recreational programs.
  • Establishes, develops, updates, and monitors the Aquatic Risk Management plan and Standard Operating Procedures for all aquatic/ wellness facilities/ programs and enforces compliance.
  • Prepares budget input including UFR updates and request for special funding. Performs financial management and budgetary duties related to the assessment, development, consolidation, and evaluation of aquatic, wellness, and recreation programs.
  • Establishes, develops, coordinates, and executes aquatic training/ recertification curriculum to include lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, and other safety and recreational training.
  • Establishes, develops and formulates plans, standards and procedures for health and wellness programs. Coordinates with the MWR (facility) marketing department to publicize aquatic/ wellness programs and events.
  • Purchases the required materials/equipment/program supplies/uniforms/services and safety and rescue equipment. Conducts analysis of annual operating, capital purchases and minor construction budgets. Performs other duties as assigned.
