This entry-level job trains you to become a property appraiser for tax purposes in Pierce County, Washington, involving fieldwork like visiting sites, measuring buildings, and collecting data on property values.
You'll work with experienced appraisers to learn the ropes and eventually promote to a full appraiser role after probation and certification.
It's ideal for someone with basic experience in real estate, construction, or inspections who enjoys hands-on work outdoors and interacting with the public.

You will play an integral role in establishing fair and equitable market value for tax purposes within Pierce County.
We are looking to grow our own Appraisers, and we do that through our Appraiser in Training process.
With some experience in real property values such as inspections, cost estimating, real estate insurance adjusting, real estate, construction, and appraisal, you will work alongside a seasoned team of Appraisal Professionals as you develop your skills.
Once you successfully complete probation and obtain your accreditation, you will promote to an Appraiser 1 position. This position is 50% or more in the field.

Additional related education or experience may substitute year-for-year for the minimum requirements.
Two or more years of work experience in real property transactions, i.e.
real estate insurance adjusting, real estate, construction, fee appraisal, professional mass appraisal or other directly related field which provides a knowledge of real property and/or personal property values and appraisal techniques.
