This job involves helping maintain and repair a massive antenna system used for very low frequency communications, including climbing tall towers to inspect and fix cables, wires, and mechanical parts.
It suits someone who is comfortable with heights, physically fit, and has basic mechanical skills from hands-on work or training.
Ideal candidates are reliable team players who can work independently on routine tasks in a remote outdoor setting.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: Ability to assist in the repair and maintenance of the VLF antenna network; annual inspection programs, changing oil in gear boxes, grease sheaves on top of towers, etc.
Ability to climb up to 980 feet in height while carrying his trade tools. Ability to use small hand tools, power assist equipment, and motor vehicle equipment.
Ability to perform work on the towers where only spot checks of work accomplishment will be made due to the difficulty of climbing towers.
