Job Description
Summary
This job involves daily hands-on care for shelter animals, including feeding, cleaning kennels, and providing socialization to keep them healthy and happy.
It also includes interacting with the public, volunteers, and staff while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
A good fit would be someone who loves animals, is physically fit for manual tasks, and enjoys customer service in a team setting.
Key Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to handle, control, and load animals over 50 lbs and perform manual labor
- Obtain and maintain Euthanasia Certification from the Humane Society of the United States
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work from general instructions and safely operate related equipment
- Willingness to work overtime, including holidays and weekends
- Follow standard operating procedures and comply with animal control policies
Full Job Description
Position is responsible for the day-to-day care and treatment of the animals that are brought to the shelter. Position will perform duties pertaining to kennel maintenance, custodial responsibilities, and maintaining a disease-free environment for animals at the facility. Interacts with the public, fellow staff, community service, and volunteers professionally and with exceptional customer service. Is expected to work safely and maintain a consistency with ACCD vision and mission statements and beliefs, policy, and procedures. Must be able to obtain/maintain Euthanasia Certification from the Humane Society of the United States.Agency Summary
