This position functions as the Department of Revenue’s primary web developer and content architect, responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Department’s Internet and Intranet web presence using modern web technologies and content management systems.
This includes full lifecycle support for internal and public-facing sites through tools like Microsoft SharePoint Online (O365), Sitefinity CMS, and supporting technologies.
The incumbent independently evaluates business needs and translates them into accessible, standards-compliant, secure, and engaging web solutions. This position operates with a high level of technical autonomy and collaborates with program subject matter experts and stakeholders across all divisions.The Alaska Department of Revenue supports the financial backbone of state government by collecting, safeguarding, investing, and distributing public funds that directly impact Alaska’s residents and communities.
Our work ensures the integrity of programs such as taxation, treasury operations, and the Permanent Fund Dividend, maintaining public trust and fiscal accountability.
Administrative Services enables these mission-critical functions through reliable, secure, and efficient operational support.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:Who We Are Looking For:
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
Substitution:
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience.
An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Special Note:
An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire.
Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.

This position requires strong independent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Applicants should be comfortable working within enterprise content management platforms such as Sitefinity and SharePoint Online, and be prepared to follow accessibility, security, and information architecture standards as outlined in department and enterprise policy.
Occasional collaboration with external vendors and state enterprise IT staff may be required.
