Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing daily operations, maintenance, security, and emergency response at Kalaeloa Airport in Hawaii, including dealing with airlines, tenants, and the public on behalf of the airport manager.

Requirements

The Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker III conducts the operation, maintenance, security, safety and crash/fire activities of the Kalaeloa Airport having commercial and/or general aviation activities; and serves as a representative of an airport district manager in dealing with airlines, tenants, licenses, permittees, personnel and the general public; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:

Specialized Experience:
Four (4) years of semi-skilled or skilled work experience in one or more building or mechanical trades. Successful completion of coursework at an accredited technical school or community college in a building or mechanical trade may be substituted for this experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours for six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants for the Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker III level must possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g., by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Motor Vehicle Operator's License, CDL Type B at the time of appointment.Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application.
